Workers in this unit group bleach, dye and otherwise treat fibres, yarn, cloth and other textile products. Their functions include: treating textile products to make them lighter in colour or to give them specific colour; washing textile products to remove impurities, excess chemicals or natural gum; tending equipment to shrink textile materials or strengthen the weave by interlocking the fibres; waterproofing textiles with chemicals; treating silk to give it body and weight; operating machines which press, stretch, or impart lustre, waterproof or other type of finish to textiles; performing related tasks.
