Definition

  • Σε ορισμένα νομοθετικά πεδία, το Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο καλείται να παράσχει την έγκρισή του, ως ειδική νομοθετική διαδικασία σύμφωνα με το άρθρο 289 παρ. 2 της Συνθήκης για τη λειτουργία της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης (ΣΛΕΕ). Η διαδικασία έγκρισης προσφέρει στο Κοινοβούλιο δικαίωμα αρνησικυρίας (βέτο). Με τη διαδικασία αυτή, το Κοινοβούλιο εγκρίνει ή απορρίπτει τις νομοθετικές προτάσεις του Συμβουλίου χωρίς περαιτέρω τροποποιήσεις και το Συμβούλιο δεν μπορεί να παρακάμψει την άποψη του Κοινοβουλίου. Έγκριση του Κοινοβουλίου απαιτείται επίσης, ως μη νομοθετική διαδικασία, όταν το Συμβούλιο εγκρίνει ορισμένες διεθνείς συμφωνίες.
