  • F'ċerti oqsma leġiżlattivi, il-Parlament Ewropew hu mitlub jagħti l-approvazzjoni tiegħu skont l-Artikolu 289(2) tat-Trattat dwar il-Funzjonament tal-Unjoni Ewropea. Il-proċedura ta' approvazzjoni tagħti lill-Parlament id-dritt tal-veto. Ir-rwol tal-Parlament għalhekk hu li japprova jew jiċħad il-proposta leġiżlattiva mingħajr emendi ulterjuri u l-Kunsill ma jistax imur kontra l-opinjoni tal-Parlament. L-approvazzjoni hi rikjesta wkoll bħala proċedura mhux leġiżlattiva meta l-Kunsill ikun qed jadotta ċerti ftehimiet internazzjonali.
