Definition

  • Op bepaalde wetgevingsterreinen is de goedkeuring van het Europees Parlement vereist, een bijzondere wetgevingsprocedure op grond van artikel 289, lid 2, van het Verdrag betreffende de werking van de Europese Unie. De goedkeuringsprocedure geeft het Parlement een vetorecht. Het Parlement kan een wetgevingsvoorstel goedkeuren of afwijzen, zonder recht op amendering, en de Raad kan niet voorbijgaan aan het standpunt van het Parlement. De goedkeuringsprocedure is als niet-wetgevingsprocedure van toepassing bij goedkeuring door de Raad van bepaalde internationale overeenkomsten.
