  • Za nekatera zakonodajna področja se Parlament zaprosi za odobritev. Gre za posebni zakonodajni postopek, ki ga določa člen 289(2) Pogodbe o delovanju Eropske unije. Postopek odobritve daje Parlamentu pravico veta. Naloga Parlamenta je, da zakonodajni predlog potrdi ali zavrne brez nadaljnjih sprememb, Svet pa njegovega mnenja ne more ovreči. Odobritev kot nezakonodajni postopek se zahteva tudi takrat, ko Svet sprejema nekatere mednarodne sporazume.
