  • El ECU era una cesta de monedas compuesta por la suma de cantidades fijas de doce de las quince monedas de los Estados miembros de la CE. El valor del ECU se calculaba como media ponderada del valor de las monedas que lo componían. El ECU fue sustituido por el euro, a la par, el 1 de enero de 1999.
