  • Në fushat legjislative, Parlamentit Europian i kërkohet të japë pëlqimin si një procedurë e posaçme legjislative sipas nenit 289 pika 2 e Traktatit për Funksionimin e Bashkimit Europian (TFBE). Procedura e pëlqimit i jep Parlamentit të drejtën e vetos. Roli i Parlamentit është të miratojë ose refuzojë propozimin legjislativ pa ndryshime të mëtejshme dhe Këshilli nuk mund të hedhë poshtë opinionin e Parlamentit. Pëlqimi kërkohet gjithashtu si procedurë jo legjislative kur Këshilli miraton disa marrëveshje ndërkombëtare.
